CIRCASANA YOGA COMMUNITY CIRCUS PROJECT
CircAsana Yoga periodically hosts community circuses at Magnific Rock and other hotels in Nicaragua. The performances involve professional performers, children from the local school, unsuspecting hotel guests and anyone else who might have a slight inclination to test themselves in front of a friendly audience.
This retreat gives participants the opportunity to learn some of the CircAsana performance tricks of the trade, and be a part of the community circus creation formation.
WHAT IS CIRCASANA YOGA?
CircAsana Yoga is a fun blend of acrobatic and aerial conditioning, vinyasa yoga and restorative physical therapy. It works to develop sustainable strength, flexibility, grace and joy.
The acrobatic and aerial conditioning component focuses on the development of functional strength, through connected-upside-down-ness, safe flight and other creative, playful activity. Classes incorporate pulling strength, pushing strength, core strength and active flexibility, leaving you balanced, with a happy core, and ready for any physical challenge.
The vinyasa yoga element explores graceful and creative movement, synchronizing dance, breath and mindfulness to open every corner of you, inspire heart-warming peace and bring you into the present moment.

Previously a circus-performing lawyer yogi in Australia and Japan, Amy took a break from her corporate career to run away with the circus and do more yoga.
She performed as an adagio acrobat in Australia, studied at the circus school in China, street performed in Serbia, traveled with clowns in Mexico and practiced plenty of yoga along the way.
Amy is a qualified Partner Acrobatics teacher, Sivananda Yoga teacher, and co-founder of CircAsana Yoga.
She teaches CircAsana Yoga at Magnific Rock in Nicaragua, where she also manages the yoga retreat program and coordinates CircAsana Yoga community circuses
“Saffron and Amy have infectious personalities that make you feel loved and warm, and make you want to try new things, and give you the confidence to try things you never thought your body could do. With their instruction, I felt like I could let go and put my body into amazing different positions, and just be silly – I think that was what a lot of it was about – just being silly.”
— ROBIN, USA
“My favorite thing was learning the silks. I didn’t know I had that skill, so it is something I want to work on.”
— MARIA-ANDREA, NICARAGUA
“I learnt some new techniques when it came to inversions – all the pointers and techniques really nailed it in for me.”
— NATHAN, CANADA
“It was a very beautiful weekend, with a lot of very powerful, strong, vibrant people. I enjoyed all the new things we’d never tried before – hula hooping classes, surfing, the fancy breakfasts, and integrating with all these faces and new friends from all over the world.”
— LISA-MARIE, USA
“The CircAsana retreat was a super adventurous, colorful, very outdoor, energetic retreat. My favorite part was the hula yoga, because I had no idea what we were going to do, and I didn’t know how to use the hula hoop at all – at all! I had seen it at a circus show, and thought, I wish I could do that – I want to learn! Next thing I knew, I saw myself doing it. It was awesome.”
— MARIE ELISA, GERMANY
“I learned that I can surf, so I don’t have to be afraid of the water anymore. ”— KARA, USA
